3. Behalwe een ou ooilammetjie het die arm man niks besit nie. Hy het haar aan die lewe gehou, en sy het saam met sy kinders grootgeword. Sy het van sy krummeltjies geëet, uit sy beker gedrink en op sy skoot geslaap. Ja, sy was vir hom soos 'n eie dogter.
