8. Pastaj mbreti u kthye nga kopshti i pallatit, në vendin e banketit ku shërbehej vera; ndërkaq Hamani kishte rënë mbi divanin në të cilin rrinte Esteri. Atëherë mbreti thirri: "Dashke gjithashtu të dhunosh mbretëreshën, ndërsa unë vetë jam në shtëpi?". Sa dolën këto fjalë nga goja e mbretit, ia mbuluan fytyrën Hamanit.
