17. Wir bezeugen heute vor Himmel und Erde und vor dem Gott unsrer Väter, der uns jetzt um unsrer Sünden willen bestraft, daß wir euch gebeten haben, die Stadt dem Heer des Holofernes zu übergeben, und daß wir lieber rasch durchs Schwert umkommen, als langsam vor Durst verschmachten.
