4. Und es geschah, als der König das Wort des Mannes Gottes hörte, der gegen den Altar von Bethel rief, da streckte Jerobeam seine Hand aus vom Altar herab und sprach: Ergreift ihn! Da verdorrte seine Hand, die er gegen ihn ausgestreckt hatte, so daß er sie nicht wieder zu sich ziehen konnte.
