16. 'Mine kogu kokku kõik Suusanis leiduvad juudid ja paastuge minu pärast; kolm päeva ärge sööge ega jooge ei öösel ega päeval. Minagi paastun oma teenijatega nõnda. Ja siis ma lähen kuninga juurde, kuigi see pole seadusepärane. Aga kui ma hukkun, siis hukkun!'
