1. [A Psalm of Solomon. Comfort for the righteous] The right hand of the Lord covered me; the right hand of the Lord spared us.

2. The arm of the Lord saved us from the sword that passes through, from famine and the sinners' death.

3. Wild animals ran upon them, they tore their flesh with their teeth, and crushed their bones with their molars.

4. The Lord delivered us from meeting all these things.

5. The pious person was terrified by his transgressions lest he be taken along with the sinners.

6. For the sudden end of the sinner is terrible; but nothing of all these things will touch the righteous.

7. For the discipline of the righteous (who sins) in ignorance is not like the sudden end of the sinners.

8. The righteous are disciplined secretly lest the sinner rejoice over the righteous.

9. For he will admonish the righteous as a beloved son and his discipline [will be] as for a firstborn.

10. For the Lord will spare his saints, and he will wipe away their transgressions with discipline.

11. For the life of the righteous [is] forever, but sinners will be taken away to destruction, and memory of them will not be found any more.

12. But the Lord's mercy is upon the saints and his mercy is upon those who fear him.
