29. Salomolle kerrottiin: "Joab on paennut pyhäkkötelttaan ja on siellä alttarin ääressä." Salomo lähetti kysymään Joabilta: "Mikä sinun on, kun olet paennut alttarin turviin?" Joab vastasi: "Minä pelkäsin sinua ja pakenin Herran luo." Silloin kuningas Salomo lähetti sinne Benajan, Jojadan pojan, sanoen: "Mene ja tapa hänet."
