9. Saul sanoi sananviejille, jotka olivat tulleet sinne: "Ilmoittakaa tämä Gileadin Jabesin kansalle: Huomenna, kun aurinko hehkuu kuumimmillaan, teille tulee pelastus." Kun sananviejät palasivat ja kertoivat sen Jabesin asukkaille, nämä riemastuivat.
