Juoksijat lähtivät kaikkialle Israeliin ja Juudaan mukanaan kuninkaan ja johtomiesten kirjoittamat kirjeet, ja he kehottivat kuninkaan käskyn mukaisesti: "Israelilaiset, palatkaa Herran, Abrahamin ja Iisakin ja Israelin Jumalan luo! Silloin hän palaa teidän luoksenne, teidän, jotka olette pelastuneet Assyrian kuninkaiden käsistä.
