23. Mutta Herra armahti israelilaisia ja osoitti heille laupeutensa. Abrahamin, Iisakin ja Jaakobin kanssa tekemänsä liiton tähden hän ei tahtonut tuhota heitä. Hän kääntyi heidän puoleensa eikä vielä silloin heittänyt heitä pois kasvojensa edestä.
