25. Hänen lähin miehensä Pekah, Remaljan poika, teki salaliiton häntä vastaan ja löi hänet hengiltä Samarian kuninkaanpalatsin sisälinnassa. Pekahilla oli mukanaan viisikymmentä Gileadin miestä, ja hän surmasi samalla myös Argobin ja Arjen. Pekahjan surmattuaan Pekah nousi hänen sijaansa kuninkaaksi.
