Kuningas antoi ylipappi Hilkialle, häntä avustaville papeille ja ovenvartijoille käskyn, että Herran temppelistä oli vietävä pois kaikki esineet, jotka oli tehty Baalin, Astarten ja taivaan tähtien palvelusta varten. Hän poltti ne Jerusalemin ulkopuolella Kidronin rinteessä ja vei niiden tuhkan Beteliin.
