2. Paavali ja Barnabas asettuivat vastustamaan heitä, ja asiasta käytiin kiivasta väittelyä. Niinpä päätettiin, että Paavali ja Barnabas ja muutamat muut lähtisivät Jerusalemiin apostolien ja vanhimpien puheille, jotta saataisiin selvyys tästä kiistakysymyksestä.
