12. Silloin he menivät kuninkaan luo ja sanoivat hänelle: "Kuningas! Sinähän olet antanut kirjallisen määräyksen, että jos joku kolmenkymmenen päivän aikana rukoilee jotakin keneltä tahansa jumalalta tai ihmiseltä paitsi sinulta, kuningas, hänet heitettäköön leijonien luolaan." Kuningas vastasi: "Se määräys on peruuttamaton, niin sanoo Meedian ja Persian laki."
