12. Kunkin neidon tuli vuorollaan mennä kuningas Kserkseen luo. Sitä ennen tyttö oli saanut kauneudenhoitoa kokonaisen vuoden, kuten oli määrätty. Kuusi kuukautta häntä oli hoidettu mirhaöljyllä ja toiset kuusi kuukautta balsamiöljyillä ja muulla tavoin.
