8. Tämän jälkeen Haman sanoi kuningas Kserkseelle: "Valtakunnassasi on kansa, joka asuu hajallaan sen kaikissa maakunnissa muiden kansojen seassa, mutta niistä erottautuen. Sen lait ovat erilaiset kuin minkään muun kansan, eivätkä sen kansan jäsenet noudata kuninkaan lakeja. Ei ole oikein, kuningas, että sinä annat heidän olla rauhassa.
