17. Kun farao oli päästänyt kansan lähtemään, Jumala ei johtanutkaan israelilaisia filistealaisten maan kautta kulkevaa tietä, joka olisi ollut lyhin, sillä hän ajatteli, että kansa huomatessaan joutuvansa taisteluun alkaisi katua ja palaisi Egyptiin.
