16. Johanan, Kareahin poika, ja häneen liittyneet sotapäälliköt ottivat turviinsa sen väen, jonka Ismael, Netanjan poika, oli pakottanut mukaansa Mispasta murhattuaan Gedaljan, Ahikamin pojan. Joukkoon kuului miehiä, naisia ja lapsia, sotilaita ja hoviväkeä. Heidät kaikki Johanan toi pois Gibeonista.
