31. Silloin oli valmistuspäivä, ja alkava sapatti oli erityisen suuri juhla. Jotta ruumiit eivät jäisi sapatiksi ristille, juutalaiset pyysivät Pilatukselta, että ristiinnaulituilta lyötäisiin sääriluut poikki ja heidät otettaisiin alas.
