20. Herra oli kovettanut vihollisten sydämet ja saanut heidät käymään sotaa Israelia vastaan, jotta heidät voitaisiin julistaa Herralle kuuluvaksi uhriksi ja säälimättä tuhota sen käskyn mukaisesti, jonka Herra oli antanut Moosekselle.
