31. Alttari rakennettiin kokonaisista luonnonkivistä, joihin rautainen työkalu ei ollut koskenut. Näin oli Mooses, Herran palvelija, käskenyt israelilaisten tehdä, ja tämä määräys on kirjoitettu Mooseksen lain kirjaan. Israelilaiset uhrasivat alttarilla polttouhreja ja yhteysuhreja.
