22. Kun heidän isänsä tai veljensä tulevat valittamaan meille, me vastaamme: 'Antakaa armon käydä oikeudesta. Me emme voineet Gileadin Jabesia vastaan käydyssä sodassa hankkia vaimoja kaikille. Ja te ette olisi voineet itse antaa tyttäriänne heille, koska silloin olisitte syyllistyneet valanne rikkomiseen.'"
