31. Mutta Joas sanoi edessään seisovalle joukolle: "Puolustatteko te Baalia? Tekö yritätte pelastaa hänet? Sen, joka asettuu puolustamaan Baalia, on kuoltava ennen aamunkoittoa. Jos Baal on jumala, puolustakoon nyt itse itseään, kun Gideon on repinyt maahan hänen alttarinsa."
