17. Ja Daavid sanoi Jumalalle: "Minähän käskin laskea kansan, ja minä siis olen se, joka olen tehnyt syntiä ja menetellyt pahoin. Mutta nämä minun lampaani, mitä he ovat tehneet? Herra, minun Jumalani, sattukoon sinun kätesi minuun ja minun isäni perheeseen, mutta ei sinun kansaasi, sille vitsaukseksi."
