39. Kun Daavid kuuli, että Naabal oli kuollut, sanoi hän: "Kiitetty olkoon Herra, joka on kostanut Naabalille minun häväistykseni ja pidättänyt palvelijansa pahasta ja kääntänyt Naabalin pahuuden hänen oman päänsä päälle". Senjälkeen Daavid lähetti sanomaan Abigailille, että hän halusi ottaa hänet vaimokseen.
