Niin Gaad meni Daavidin tykö, ilmoitti ja sanoi hänelle: "Tuleeko nälkä seitsemäksi vuodeksi sinun maahasi, vai pakenetko sinä kolme kuukautta vihollisiasi, jotka ajavat sinua takaa, vai tuleeko rutto sinun maahasi kolmeksi päiväksi? Mieti nyt ja katso, mitä minä vastaan hänelle, joka minut lähetti."
