8. Kun kuningas tuli linnan puutarhasta takaisin linnaan, jossa juomingit olivat, oli Haaman juuri heittäytymässä lepovuoteelle, jolla kuningatar Ester lepäsi. Niin kuningas sanoi: "Vai tekee hän vielä väkivaltaa kuningattarelle linnassa, minun läsnäollessani!" Tuskin oli tämä sana päässyt kuninkaan suusta, kun jo Haamanin kasvot peitettiin.
