4. Kuin kuningas kuuli sanan siltä Jumalan mieheltä, joka alttaria vastaan Betelissä huutanut oli, ojensi Jerobeam kätensä alttarin tyköä ja sanoi: ottakaat häntä kiinni. Ja hänen kätensä kuivettui, jonka hän häntä vastaan ojensi, ja ei hän taitanut sitä vetää jälleen puoleensa.
