16. Silloin Herodes, nähtyään, että tietäjät olivat hänet pettäneet, vihastui kovin ja lähetti tappamaan kaikki poikalapset Beetlehemistä ja koko sen ympäristöstä, kaksivuotiaat ja nuoremmat, sen mukaan kuin hän oli aikaa tietäjiltä tarkoin tiedustellut.
