1. Kemudian Samuel mengambil kendi berisi minyak zaitun, lalu minyak itu dituangkannya ke atas kepala Saul, dan diciumnya Saul sambil berkata, "TUHAN telah melantikmu menjadi raja atas Israel umat-Nya. Engkau akan memerintah umat-Nya dan melindungi mereka dari musuh-musuh mereka. Inilah tanda bagimu bahwa TUHAN telah memilih engkau menjadi raja atas umat-Nya:
