17. Tetapi Abisai anak Zeruya datang menolong Daud. Diserangnya raksasa itu dan dibunuhnya. Sesudah itu anak buah Daud memohon supaya Daud berjanji tidak akan ikut lagi dalam pertempuran. "Baginda adalah harapan Israel, jangan sampai kami kehilangan Baginda," kata mereka.
