8. Sesudah berkata begitu ikatan janji itu disahkan oleh Allah dengan upacara sunat. Maka sesudah Ishak, anak Abraham lahir, Abraham menyunat dia pada waktu ia berumur delapan hari. Kemudian Ishak menyunat juga anaknya, yaitu Yakub. Dan Yakub pun menyunat pula kedua belas anaknya, yaitu yang menjadi bapak-bapak leluhur bangsa Yahudi.
