17. Sesudah raja Mesir melepas bangsa Israel pergi, Allah tidak membawa mereka lewat jalan yang melalui negeri Filistin, walaupun itu jalan yang paling pendek. Allah berpikir, "Jangan-jangan orang-orang itu menyesal kalau melihat bahwa mereka harus berperang, lalu kembali ke Mesir."
