24. Ketika orang-orang Israel terdesak pada hari itu, Saul menyuruh rakyat mengucapkan kutuk, katanya: "Terkutuklah orang yang memakan sesuatu sebelum matahari terbenam dan sebelum aku membalas dendam terhadap musuhku." Sebab itu tidak ada seorangpun dari rakyat yang memakan sesuatu.
