Setelah terdengar oleh Adoni-Zedek, raja Yerusalem, bahwa Yosua telah merebut Ai dan telah menumpasnya seperti yang dilakukannya terhadap Yerikho dan terhadap rajanya, demikianlah juga dilakukannya terhadap Ai dan terhadap rajanya dan bahwa penduduk kota Gibeon telah mengadakan ikatan persahabatan dengan orang Israel dan diam di tengah-tengah mereka,
