24. og Ísraelsmenn voru mæddir orðnir þann dag. Þá gjörði Sál mikið glappaverk. Hann lét liðið vinna svolátandi eið: 'Bölvaður sé sá, sem neytir matar áður en kveld er komið og ég hefi hefnt mín á óvinum mínum!' Fyrir því bragðaði enginn af liðinu mat.
