2. Jónatan sagði við hann: 'Það skal aldrei verða! Þú munt eigi lífi týna. Sjá, faðir minn gjörir ekkert, hvorki stórt né smátt, að hann láti mig eigi vita það. Og hví skyldi faðir minn þá leyna mig þessu? Nei, slíkt á sér ekki stað.'
