Allora Johanan, figliuolo di Kareah, disse segretamente a Ghedalia, a Mitspa: "Lasciami andare a uccidere Ismael, figliuolo di Nethania; nessuno lo risaprà; e perché ti toglierebbe egli la vita, e tutti i Giudei che si son raccolti presso di te andrebbero essi dispersi, e il residuo di Giuda perirebb’egli?"
