Stando quindi alle norme di Davide, suo padre, egli stabilì le classi dei sacerdoti per il loro servizio, i Leviti nelle loro mansioni (di lodare l'Eterno e di prestare servizio davanti ai sacerdoti) secondo i compiti di ogni giorno, e i portinai secondo le loro classi a ciascuna porta, perché così aveva ordinato Davide l'uomo di DIO.
