17. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು--ನನ್ನ ಕೈ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಬಾರದು; ಆದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕೈ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಲಿ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನನ್ನ ಹಿರಿಯ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮೇರಬಳನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುವೆನು; ನೀನು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕರ್ತನ ಯುದ್ಧಗಳನ್ನು ನಡಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
