16. ಆಗ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲ ರಿಗೆ--ನಾನಂತೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ನೀರಿನ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸು ವದು ನಿಜವೇ; ಆದರೆ ನನಗಿಂತ ಶಕ್ತನೊಬ್ಬನು ಬರು ತ್ತಾನೆ; ಆತನ ಕೆರಗಳ ಬಾರನ್ನು ಬಿಚ್ಚುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ಯೋಗ್ಯನಲ್ಲ; ಆತನು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಂದಲೂ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂ ದಲೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುವನು
