18. Un notika, tiklīdz tas pieminēja Dieva šķirstu, tā Ēlis krita atmuguriski no sava krēsla pie vārtiem virzienā uz ceļa pusi un lauza savu sprandu un nomira, jo viņš bija vecs vīrs un smags. Viņš bija Israēlā spriedis tiesu četrdesmit gadus.
