Viņš atgriezās pie negantās elku kalpošanas un atkal uzcēla augstieņu svētnīcas, kuras viņa tēvs Hiskija bija nopostījis, un cēla Baalam altārus un darināja Ašēru, kā Israēla ķēniņš Ahabs bija tās darinājis, un viņš metās uz sava vaiga pie zemes visa debess zvaigžņu pulka priekšā un tam kalpoja.
