23. Kad Ahitofels novēroja, ka nerīkojas pēc viņa padoma, tad viņš apsegloja savu ēzeli, cēlās un aizjāja uz savu namu dzimtajā pilsētā. Pēc tam viņš vēl apkopa savu namu un tad pakārās. Tā viņš nomira un tika apglabāts sava tēva kapa vietā.
