27. Kad Abners atgriezās atpakaļ Hebronā, tad Joābs viņu ievilināja vārtu vidū, it kā viņš gribētu klusībā ar to parunāt, un tur viņš tam iedūra šķēpu vēderā, ka tas nomira, lai tā atriebtu sava brāļa Asahēla asinis.
