24. Bet, kad Pilāts redzēja, ka viņš nekā nevar izdarīt, bet troksnis kļuva vēl lielāks, tad viņš ņēma ūdeni un mazgāja rokas ļaužu priekšā, sacīdams: "Es esmu nevainīgs pie šī taisnā asinīm. Raugait jūs paši!"
