17. അനന്തരം ശൌല് ദാവീദിനോടുഎന്റെ മൂത്ത മകള് മേരബുണ്ടല്ലോ; ഞാന് അവളെ നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായി തരും; നീ ശൂരനായി എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധങ്ങള് നടത്തിയാല് മതി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ കയ്യല്ല ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കൈ അവന്റെമേല് വീഴുവാന് സംഗതിവരട്ടെ എന്നു ശൌല് വിചാരിച്ചു.
