17. Toen Farao het volk had laten gaan, leidde God hen niet op de weg naar het land der Filistijnen, hoewel deze de naaste was; want God zeide: Het volk mocht eens berouw krijgen, wanneer zij in strijd gewikkeld werden, en naar Egypte terugkeren.
