1. Daarom sprak Jahwe tot Samuel: ‘Hoe lang zult gij nog treuren over Saul, terwijl Ik hem heb verworpen en hij geen koning meer zal zijn over Israel? Vul een hoorn met olie: Ik zend u naar Isai de Betlehemiet, want een van diens zonen heb Ik voor het koningschap bestemd.’
