13. Koning Rechabeam wist zijn gezag in Jeruzalem te herstellen en bleef koning. Rechabeam was eenenveertig jaar toen hij koning werd en heeft zeventien jaar geregeerd in Jeruzalem, de stad die Jahwe uit alle stammen van Israel heeft uitverkoren om er zijn naam te doen wonen. Zijn moeder heette Naama en was een Ammonitische.
